Does anyone know if one can catch Peacock Bass near Paramaribo? Are there any guide services available? Has anyone had a successfull fishing trip there?

I'm thinking about visiting Suriname this summer.

I've heard about the anjumara. Are they anywhere close to Parimaribo? I'm here for another 2 weeks and would love to catch some.

I don't know if you are with some locals , but ask somebody to go
fishing in the river for another big fish called Anjumara. It is
a very delicious fish. Enjoy your stay in my country.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually here in Suriname now. The locals call peacock bass - Tucanare. I'm not sure if I'm spelling it correctly. I did manage to catch some two weeks ago in Lake Brokopondo.

There doesn't seem to be any tourism geared towards fishing here. It's too bad because this country has a lot of potential.

I'm here for another two weeks if anyone wants to show me where to fish.

Thanks,

Steve

Peacock isn't a fish that lives in the tropics.

I can say that there are a lot of fish to catch over here and
you can eat them. You can go on a trip to van Blommensteyn
stuwmeer which is a big man made lake with a lot of fish.
