Indigenous People/Human Rights Expert Needed
The European Consultants Organisation (ECO) is undertaking a framework proposal for the European Commission. The project involves a study on the integration of support for promoting the rights and issues of indigenous peoples in EC cooperation with the ACP countries. This particular project requires the participation of a Suriname based expert who is proficient in the language of at least one Maroon or Amerindian tribe and has a thorough understanding of the social, economic, political and legal situation of the Amerindian and Maroon peoples in Suriname. The expert should have a strong overview of the Amerindian and Maroon organisations and communities in Suriname and the developmental and human rights issues pertaining to them.
The study is likely to have an impact on the European Commission’s activities and policies as regards indigenous species and, therefore, is quite an important project. If you believe you are qualified or know someone who could be of assistance in recommending experts who would fit this profile, please contact Mr. F Glaser at: fred.glaser(at)eco3.be .
