De status van het Nederlands - Status of Dutch

I'm a student of Dutch in London, and I'm analysing the situation with the Dutch language in Suriname. Since the arrival of the Nederlandse Taalunie, has there been much debate as to the official status of Dutch in Suriname? Or even before the Taalunie had a presence in Suriname?

There hasn't been much debate about this subject lately since Dutch is the official language of Suriname.

If you can speak or write Dutch, you can reply on this in Dutch if you like.
